Paraguayan Scholars The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program is not currently active in Paraguay. However, U.S. institutions may request a Paraguayan scholar through the Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Program, which is administered by the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Asuncion. Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence (SIR) Program The Fulbright SIR Program brings scholars and professionals from abroad to U.S. college and university campuses for a semester or an academic year, primarily to teach undergraduate courses. SIR grantees also assist in developing curricula and serve as a resource for faculty, students, and the community. Approximately 50 grants are awarded annually worldwide. For academic year 2007-2008, one Paraguayan scholar was awarded a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence grant.
